Camp is forever. Camp is home. July 31, 2017 Below, we have posted an incredible, heart warming speech spoken by Emily Kopp to her daughter Sammie, to commemorate her five year night. Camp is forever. Camp is home. It’s the heart above the I. It’s a feeling. Even 32 years later, I still feel it every time I return. You will feel the same. The way the pine trees grow in rows, means your getting closer to camp. The sound the screen doors make when slamming. The cool morning air at flag raising. The way Sandy’s hug stays on you all day. The laughs that keep you way up past taps. How much a jack hurts when you step on it. Watching shooting stars and Northern Lights, while lying on the tennis courts. Walking back to your cabin, arms linked with a friend you have spent summer after summer with. Cheering so loud your throat hurts. Accomplishing something new like getting up on skiis, swimming the lake, or climbing the rock wall. Remembering your cabin’s song from a Cabin Sing you won. Earning enough points at cabin clean up to get DQ. Being part of a cabin, a team, a camp. Seeing your name on a plaque, or in cement, or your picture hanging in the mess hall. Knowing that my girls will experience all the same things and feel the same way about camp that I do. That you are fortunate to have this feeling in your heart like I do. I am thankful for the experiences you are having at camp. I know that you will take them with you wherever you may go. Camp will always be a part of you. Camp is forever. Camp is home.
