Marimeta Olympics and a Campfire Speech July 3, 2018 Dear Mom and Dad, These past two weeks I have had a BLAST at Marimeta! One of my favorite activities has been Olympics. I am on team India and I have many friends from lots of different cabins on my team. This year there is a new Olympics game that we play during evening activities. It’s called Human Battleship and I love it! Basically it’s like the board game but instead of using plastic battleships, my team forms one big battleship and we try to sink the other teams ship. We do this by throwing a soft gator ball over the blocked volleyball net, like Blind Newcomb. When team India played, I was knocked out, but it’s OK because I cheered my teammates on from the sidelines! I’m having so much fun! Thanks for letting me come to camp! I love you! XOXO, Your Daughter<3 Below is a campfire speak from one of our 6th graders on friendship: In my opinion, friendship can mean many things, to some; it’s the rescue boat when you are drowning in an ocean of loneliness. To others it is the feeling of being joyful based solely on others happiness. But to us all it means, having an unbreakable bond with whatever humans you have fostered a positive relationship with. At Camp Marimeta, we count and rely on friends to improve our overall camp experience. It is the thing that allows us to have more fun than not, because friends are always the light at the end of the dark tunnel. No matter what predicament you have found yourself in, friends will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Maya.
