Olympics – The Tradition Continues August 7, 2017 As the music “Bugler’s Dream” plays from the loud speakers, campers and counselors of Marimeta get ready for a fun filled day of competition. The last Monday of camp is the final rounds of the 2017 Marimeta Olympics. Opening ceremony, lead by the junior counselors makes us all laugh with their comical version of it. The girls and coaches are very busy battling for the gold, silver and bronze metals for their teams. The beginning contest starts with a running race all around the camp grounds. Arm wrestling, swim relays, egg toss and dizzy-izzy relays are activities they compete in before lunch. After lunch the excitment continues with the three-legged race, diving competition, egg drop and the thrilling tube rodeo. Track and field matches are followed by the rousing and riveting tug-of-war. Cheers are learned and then performed to the enthralled audience. As the sun sets and we wash off our teams colors from our faces we settle in for the Camp Marimeta 2017 highlight video. The campers get to relive the summer through pictures and videos of all their adventures, triumphs and growth. We know that the summer of 2017 will go down in history of one filled with challenges, laughter and love.
