At Camp Marimeta While the Pioneers are Away the Ranchers and Dudes will Play… June 28, 2018 While the trips are away… The ranchers and dudes will play! The past few days the pioneers have been away in the Wisconsin Dells, Mackinac Island and sailing on Lake Superior! Back at camp, we have had a fun and jam-packed few days! When the older girls left Tuesday morning, we started off with “Al Lewis” – when campers can choose to participate in activities all around camp. This is a great chance to try some of the activities that the campers haven’t tried yet. Campers had a blast paddle boarding, playing up at high ropes, swimming in the lake and so much more! Later on in the day, we had some rain here at camp but the rain didn’t stop us from having fun! We played ABC Dress Up as cabin groups. During ABC Dress Up, everyone is given a letter of the alphabet and someone in the cabin dresses up as something of that letter! The costumes were super silly and everyone had a blast. On Wednesday, the weather was absolutely beautiful! We played Battle of the Atlantic. We were split into college teams from the USA and UK and competed against each other. In our college teams we played a new game that the CIAs (Campers In Action) created. It was Called the Corporate Ladder (similar to a scavenger hunt) and it was a super fun way to start the day! After that, we had general waterfront. During general waterfront, all activities on the lake are open and you are free to do whatever you want! You can go on the summit, go kayaking, or ski around the lake! It was a beautiful and sunny afternoon spent on Lake Meta! Wednesday night, we played a hilarious game called the Gunk Game! One counselor from each cabin was chosen to be gunked. In order to get things dumped on their counselor’s heads, such as milk or pudding, the campers had to answer trivia questions correctly. It was so funny seeing all of the counselors get gunked! With the sun shining and the temperatures rising, Thursday morning we had more general waterfront. In the afternoon, before the trips came back, we took an all-camp trip to the sand bar, which is on the other side of! We went over on the ski boats and pontoon boat and spent the afternoon playing in the water, it was so much fun! Even though we missed all of the pioneers, we had an amazing time while trips were away!
