MTV 2013

July 7, 2013

Dear Mom and Dad,

Oh My Goodness!  I didn’t think camp could be any more fun…but I was wrong.  Camp just keeps getting better and better.  Yesterday was Saturday.  So we had normal G day activities in the morning.  I swam, did ceramics, and went horseback riding.

Then, we had the best lunch at Marimeta…grilled cheese!!!  After lunch we had a normal rest hour.  And for the first time this summer, we got to have general waterfront in the afternoon!

General waterfront is AMAZING!  It is when the whole camp gets to be on the waterfront for the afternoon.  I went tubing, paddle boarding, down the summit at least 10 times, windsurfing, and sailing.  It was the best!

During normal general, we had a final MTV practice. We had steak for dinner and then had an hour to get ready for MTV.

For the first time, the overall Mari and Meta captains were the hosts of MTV.  Rae and Sydney did an amazing job!  It was a great new addition to MTV.  MTV was soooooo great!  It was fun to get up in front of camp and perform and even more fun to watch the other groups.  I won’t know who won until the MTV awards, but I think it will be difficult for the judges to find a winner!  There were a lot of amazing groups.

Mari Group 1: Year 3000 by The Jonas Brothers
Mari Group 2: Deck the Rooftop from Glee
Mari Group 3: I Got You from Bring It On the Musical
Mari Group 4: I’m a Believer from Shrek the Musical
Mari Group 5: Thirteen from Thirteen the Musical
Mari Group 6: Waka Waka by Shakira
Mari Group 7: Too Late Too Turn Back Now from Bonnie and Clyde the Musical
Mari Group 8: Night to Remember from High School Musical 3
Meta Group 1: Positive from Legally Blonde the Musical
Meta Group 2: Wreck it Ralph from the movie Wreck it Ralph
Meta Group 3: My New Philosophy from Charlie Brown the Musical
Meta Group 4: I’ve Got a Dream from Tangled
Meta Group 5: Thneedville from The Lorax
Meta Group 6: Popular Song by Mika
Meta Group 7: One and the Same from the Princess Protection Program
Meta Group 8: I’ll Make a Man Out of You from Mulan

I already can’t wait for MTV next year!  Well, I gotta to Sunday Brunch!

I love and miss you and can’t believe I will see you in 5 days!!!

Love,

Your Camper

Fourth of July at Marimeta!!!

July 5, 2013

Dear Mom and Dad,

OMG!  I had the best Fourth of July!!!  It is a very special day at camp.  We decorated our cabin on Wednesday night!  We got to sleep until 9:00!

At 9:00, Senior Cabin wakes up the whole camp with pots and pans.  It is a tradition that has been going on forever!  The senior cabin makes almost a parade through all the other cabins and bangs the pots and pans as the “alarm clock” for the day.  Then, I got dressed in my Fourth of July outfit that you sent me!  The Senior Cabin set the whole mess hall!  There were croissants for breakfast…yummy!!

After lunch we had cabin clean-up!  (You already know it is my favorite part of everyday!)  After cabin clean up we had captains duels.  Basically, all of the captains for Mari Meta get to have a water-balloon fight.  Each captain goes head to head with another captain the same age from the other team.  Check out the pictures!

Then we had our normal Fourth lunch!!!  It was delicious!!!  It’s cornbread, pulled chicken, brisket, pasta salad, coleslaw, veggie salad, and of course firecracker popsicles for dessert!  Yummmmmy!

After lunch was rest hour.  Then we had team meetings for Message to Martha!!!!  Message to Martha is the best Fourth of July activity.  It’s a little hard to explain in a letter, but I will try my best.

One team is on defense and wears dark t-shirts.  The other team is on offense and must wear a white t-shirt.  The whole defense is spread throughout camp with squirt bottle full of colored water.  The offense’s captains have spent a lot of time coming up with a plan.  They hide behind cabins, in the woods, and all over camp.  There are also some people in canoes.  The offense tries to run to the other side of camp without getting squirted by the defense.  Each camper is worth a certain amount of points.  If you get over without getting squirt then your team gets the points.  “Martha” is the judge on deciding if you got squirted.  Then the teams switch offense and defense.

After message to Martha, we had a rattle snake.  The Senior Cabin starts in the middle of the field and creates a “snake.”  All of camp holds hands and then we all go jump in the lake with our clothes on!  All of the counselors stand on the docks and lifeguard.  It was so much fun!!!

After rattle snake, we all got to shower for the social with Menominee!  Monster Entertainment was the DJ.  I LOVE Monster Entertainment.  I want Kasper to be the DJ at my bat mitzvah.  He makes the socials so much fun!

At the end of the social, of course, there was fireworks!!  Sandy really outdid himself this year!  They were so beautiful!

It was the perfect Fourth of July!!!!!

I love and miss you!

Love,

Your Camper

Commercial Skits

June 28, 2013

Dear Mom and Dad,

Yesterday was a great day!  It was so nice out.  We had regular G day activities.  Then it rained again during dinner.  But that just meant that we got to do skits as the evening activity!

We did commercial skits.  The items in the commercials had to be things that would be helpful to counselors.  The skits were hilarious.

Cabin 1’s commercial was about counselors getting to pick their perfect cabin.  It was all of the campers that were already in the cabin…because Cabin 1 is perfect!

Cabin 2’s commercial was about counselors getting a pause button.  This way they could take a break.

Cabin 3’s commercial was about a paradise button.  In one click they could get away from the craziness and go to Hawaii.

Cabin 4’s commercial was about a sling shot bra.  The sling shot was to prevent campers from misbehaving.

Cabin 5’s commercial was getting campers specially delivered.  They could create the perfect cabin.

Cabin 6’s commercial was a ninja button.  The ninjas would help the counselors get the campers to behave.

Cabin 7’s commercial was a “Mary Poppins” Style backpack.  Every single thing you could ever need was in the backpack…even a mattress.

Cabin 8’s commercial was about a coupon book.  It automatically made the campers do whatever the coupons said.

Cabin 9’s commercial was instacamper.  It produced whatever camper you needed at the moment.  Like a cleaner or a waitress.

Senior Cabin Group 1’s commercial was Hankie Frankie.  Whenever they were having a sour day…Frankie would come make them feel better.

Senior Cabin Group 2’s commercial insta MTV practice.  The campers think that the counselors LOVE MTV practice.

CIA’s commercial was CIA minion.  They do everything the counselors don’t want to do.

Cabin 12 Group 1’s commercial was the quite button.  It silences any camper when needed.

Cabin 12 Group 2’s commercial was the “pimp the counselor room-inator.”  It is a spray that transformed the counselor room into whatever the counselors wanted!]

Cabin 7 and 9 won!  The prize was McDonalds for breakfast one day!  I think that the lodge is going to post cabin 7 and 9’s skits to youtube this weekend!

I’m having so much fun!

I love and miss you!

Love,

Your Camper!

Ojibwa Social

June 24, 2013

Dear Mom and Dad,

Yesterday was the best day at camp yet!  We finally got to do all of our regular activities because it was so nice outside.

I went swimming, skiing, climbed the wall, sailing, and I got to even do our new activity at camp this year Key-Log…I heard a video of key log is going to be up on the website this week!

Then we were told that there was a social with Ojibwa!  I got to see my (brother/cousin/best friend)!  They are having as much fun at camp as I am.  I wore the new outfit that you packed for me and my counselor straightened my hair!

After the social, I went right to sleep because I was so tired from the busy day I had.  I am so happy that today we got to sleep until 10:30!

Sundays are normally cabin day, but instead this sunday we are going to do normal activities so everyone can get to try all the new things they signed up for.  I have Kayak, Tennis, and Ceramics!

Tonight for dinner will be a cook out and then we will get to watch a movie!  I love Sundays!

I’m having so much fun!!!

I love and miss you.

Love,

Your Camper

P.S. I’ve been writing you a TON of letters, but apparently the mail is being a little weird up here.  I’m sure you’re going to get them really soon and know how much fun I am having!

MTV and MTV Awards

July 12, 2012

Dear Mom and Dad,

I get to see you tomorrow!!!!!!!  OMG!!!!  I’M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!  But also sad because some of my camp friends are leaving.  But, mainly I’m EXCITED TO SEE YOU!!!!  Please bring cookies, browinies, and other goodies for the people in the lodge.  (They are so nice and so beautiful!).  Also, can you bring my iphone, ipod, ipad, itouch, ishuffle, my DS, my laptop, and my dvds.  Can you bring my beats too?  BUT MAINLY, BRING YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, so MTV was so much fun!  I got to dress up in a costume!  And I even got to lip-sync a little bit.  We had a great time.

Then, Tuesday night was vicious villains.  It is kind of like chaos vs. control.  The counselors all dress up as “villains”.  The counselors all wear different colors.  The colors represent villains from Disney movies.  They either run, walk, skip, or jog.  They have a number on their shirt, and that is how many points they are worth.  It also is the number of people that need to make a circle around them in order to get points.  The people in yellow are scar and the hyenas from Lion King.  They have to run and are worth 7 points.  The people in white are Cruella Devill and her servants.  They jog and are worth 6 points.  The people in black are Shan-Yu and his army from Mulan.  They have to jog and are worth 5.  The people in purple are Ursula and her eels.  They are worth 4 and walk.

After teams get a certain number of points, a song will play on the speakers.  A different song for Maris and Metas.  When the song plays, the whole team has to find Jafar.  Jafar was Mari…she was dressed so funny.  She ran around and took crazy pictures all night.  We had to find her, in a golf cart, and the whole team had to make a circle around her.  It was hilarious.  The pictures made me laugh.

Then, last night was MTV awards.  The counselors poke fun at the MTVs.  We also get to watch the video of MTV.  And most importantly, the winners are announced!!

This year, the CIA’s helped to hand out the awards.  They were dressed as the CIA and acted all secretive about it.  They walked back and forth and finally handed the winner the trophy.

The winner of Lip-Sync this year was KIDS!!  The winner of dance was CALLING ALL THE MONSTERS.  The winner of costume was CROCODILE ROCK.  The winner of creativity was IT’S ALL ABOUT ME.  And the OVERALL winner was SAY HEY!!!!

Today is packing day.  So, I will be packing or not packing based on it I am staying or not.  I can’t wait to see you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love and miss you!

MnM,

Your Camper

Safety Day

June 19, 2012

Dear Mom and Dad,

Today we had safety day.  We started by picking out activities!  I picked sailing, skiing, archery, climbing wall, kayak/canoe, and so many more, I’ll send you my schedule later!

We then made our bead necklaces.  I get beads when I do good things at camp.

We went to the health center next.  The nurses are so nice!!!  They checked me for lice…Don’t worry, I don’t have it.

Next, we went to a safety meeting.  We went over the rules to make sure everyone has a safe and happy summer.

We then got to play a game in the middle of the field.  It was a get to know you game.  I learned everyone’s name in my cabin!

Last, I did the swim test.  I got to jump in the lake with my sweats on.  It was so funny.  I passed, and now I can go sailing, windsurfing, skiing, and all the other fun waterfront activities.

It was an awesome day.  Tonight is staffingo.  We learn all about the counselors and funny facts about them.  For example, Mari’s grandma got bit by a lion.  Audrey lives on Audrey Lane.  Emily was named after Michael Jordan (her middle name is Jordan).  Karlee was on MTV cribs.  Kendall was on Trading Spaces.  And Chloe lives on a farm with 2000 sheep.  The counselors are so funny and cool.

Tomorrow I start regular activities and I cannot wait!  Check for more pictures of me.  I’ll be the kid smiling really big!

I love and miss you,

MnM,

Your Camper
