Camp For All Kids

Fridays are Extra Special at Marimeta … especially Today!

June 24, 2011

Dearest Marimeta Families and Friends,
Well Thank God its Friday! I guess that’s what everyone says! I say… wow it’s Friday already! Time Flies when you’re having fun! It’s already Friday and what a great day it is! We started out the day with regular Monday, Wednesday Friday activities! It’s amazing that it’s almost been a week her at camp this summer! Time flies when you’re having fun!
We had a beautiful day! A little cold morning… and the swim tests were optional! We have great weather ahead of us…. And this being the first great or semi great weather day… the swim tests were optional! So many of our campers took the swim test. Many decided to wait for our 80 degree Monday! When it certainly will be warmer! Ok.. so the swim tests were optional.. but may girls decided to take it and pass! Others will wait till tomorrow and pass just the same! There were some wonderful alternatives for the swim classes. The other classes went on as planned!

Breakfast was normal cereal and Pancakes!! Lunch was Tacos and Burritos. A Favorite by all! One camper came up to me (9 years old) and loved them and had three herself!! So I’m pretty pumped about the outcome of the meal! Dinner tonight was Grecian Garlic Chicken and a wonderful salad bar! Afterwards the activities began!!

At the beginning of rest period or should I say right after lunch, the senior cabin went to the middle of the field immediately. The other girls followed and then the senior cabin explained to the camp that we had a SOCIAL WITH CAMP HORSESHOE! Everyone was so excited! The first social of the year! After everyone settled down.. over the loud speaker system came the song… by INSINC.. Dirty POP! As everyone got excited for the song…and were wondering what’s going on.. Terry and I came out of Cabins 12 and 13 to the middle of the field with two large Orange Gatorade buckets… and stopped in the middle of everyone… and then we announced that POP was the theme.. and it was indeed the start of Mari-Meta League! The screaming began! WOW Marimeta League has begun….

The captains were announced and handed out big bottles of soda.. with the names of each captain on them! Following the excitement of the announcing of captains… Sandy and Terry then announced the teams of Mari and Meta’s! Marimeta League has begun!

The teams then divided into each team in circles and then the T-shirt relay began! Each team sat in a huge circle and there’s a competitive game that they pass the t-shirts around in a circle with rules as to how you can get yours! Then there is a winner by time and the way they go around!

Following that we had afternoon activities… followed by canteen and showering for the Social with Camp Horseshoe tonight! WOW>. The first social of the summer!!

Following the social was another wonderful bedtime.. with good thoughts of a wonderful sunny day tomorrow! In fact the weekend is supposed to be 80 degrees and sunny! We look forward to another letter from me tomorrow! I love the opportunity to share with you my thoughts of each Marimeta day!

Love you till tomorrow! Sandy
