Staff Testimonials Marimeta is a place like no other. I came to camp not knowing anybody eleven years ago as an overseas staff member, and at that time I didn’t realise how much camp would influence my life. This is a place I became a more self-confident and independent person. This is a place where you don’t just leave with the best memories, but with new best friends that last a lifetime from all over the world. I have found through the years that there is always something new to be learnt from the staff, directors and especially the campers. A place you don’t just return to, you come home to. For me Marimeta is a place where something ‘Magic’ happens. –Nicola, Liverpool, UK From the moment I stepped off the buses in 2006, I knew there was no place like camp. From its picturesque surroundings to its cheerful staff, Marimeta provides an experience for young adolescents like no other. For me, camp didn’t just teach me how to water-ski or sail, but provided me with things much more invaluable: life-long friendships, a sense of independence, leadership, and many more critical life skills. In 2013, I had the privilege to further my role in the Marimeta family as a Junior Counselor (JC). Being a staff member further opened my eyes to the close-knit nature of Marimeta. I am extremely grateful for the positive relationships and camaraderie that Sandy and Terry, and the rest of the Lodge staff, create amongst Marimeta Staff. As both a counselor and camper, the atmosphere of Marimeta is one that has brought me happiness and irreplaceable memories for 8 summers. –Samantha, Deerfield, IL Being a first year counselor and never having gone to camp as a kid, I didn’t have too many expectations for my summer… maybe gain some leadership skills and make some new friends. What I received by the end of summer was so much more than anything I could have thought. It was a place where I got to be a best friend, a sister, a yoga teacher, a high ropes instructor, a mom, and, most importantly, a place where I got to be the best me. Being a camp counselor must be one of the best jobs out there; a challenging job, but one filled with so much fun and triumphs along the way. I am so grateful for the beautiful friendships with staff and campers I formed on Meta Lake. Camp Marimeta truly is a magical place, one all its own. It was undoubtedly the best way I could have spent my summer. –Kimmy, Bristol, WI
