Camp For All Kids

Sunny Day and Mari-Meta League Excitement Continues!

June 25, 2011

Dear Marimeta Families and Friends,
The Weather HAS ARRIVED! We have had an absolutely AMAZING MARIMETA DAY!

We finally had our first full activity day of the Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday Activity Schedule! All of our girls were doing everything on the waterfront, on the fields and on the courts! The camp was Rocking!

We had a wonderful bakers breakfast of fresh baked Danish and lunch was Everyone’s Favorite Albert Lunch…. Next to cheeseburgers… and it was Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup! It’s absolutely everyone’s favorite, every year! I particularly like a little ham or turkey in mine. Someone told him I was the director, and so we usually get a platter! Dinner was a favorite meal by all… Baby Back Ribs, corn on the cob and homemade cole slaw! Not to mention the amazing salad bar with fresh pasa! WOW… can I tell you there were three ribs left and the guys in the kitchen at McDonalds! I always offer them to eat first and they decline! Tonight Albert said that they ate more Ribs than any other time he’s been here! He told me one camper was excited to have had her goal of 32! That’s life in the mess hall at Marimeta!

This evening after enjoying a couple of our favorite meals on the camp menu… why not continue on and make it special by playing everyone’s all time favorite…. Marimeta League Capture the Flag! Yep that’s right! You heard it correct the first time! Capture the Flag is the all time favorite team comp game at camp every summer! It traditionally get’s the most play time in both Mari-Meta League and Red and White! It’s considered the most fun and most dangerous sport statistically in camping! However we put extra safety rules on to keep the bumps and bruises to a minimum.

You must know and remember that there’s nothing like the feeling of holding the flag and taking off toward the center line with nothing but two opposing team members coming at you! You have to split the middle or go to one side, either way, your adrenaline is pumping and you have to do it for your team! You have to do it for the glory, the hugs the kisses, the lifting you the air after you cross the line with the flag blowing in the wind! The stories they’ll tell in the mess hall about how you took the flag and crossed the line!

Ooops..sorry after watching the excitement and the teams, I seemed to get caught up in the action of the game! So tonight was capped off by the announcing of Mari-Meta League MTV Groups! That’s where every team has several groups that perform and tape a music video for the camp! It’s an amazing choreographed dance to music that is written, produced and directed by the girls in our senior cabin. The performance you hear about in future letters from me and the actual night of MTV is almost exciting as the MTV Awards Dinner and show following the actual event! Our girls are excited and once again meeting new and great friends from every age group and cabin in camp, as together they plan a musical and dance event that they will watch for years to come!

I hope everyone is having as great a weekend as we are! I look forward to informing you more tomorrow of the wonderful times at Marimeta 2011!

Love to all, Sandy
