Camp For All Kids

The Sun is my friend and the evening was amazing!

June 29, 2011

Dearest Marimeta Families and Friends,
The Sun is my friend! Ha! Almost my best friend. When he is out, he makes everyone feel good! Occasionally he gets tired and hides behind a cloud but I always know he’s there! He’s been around a lot lately… making all of my girls love the lake, the woods, the trails and the fields! He is there to help warm the earth and our camp! Girls are waterskiing, swimming, sailing paddleboarding, canoeing and kayaking and in general loving the lake! The fields are full of activity and the tennis and basketball courts are busting with action! This is due to the fact that we have a beautiful and talented group of girls with a little help from my friend…. THE SUN!

Regular Activities were had as the girls went thru their Monday, Wednesday Friday schedule! Breakfast was sausage, scrambled eggs and a special treat of Alberts Amazing Hashbrowns! Lunch was Ravioli (cheese or meat), cottage cheese and a special spinach and tomato salad! Hmmm something for everyone! Dinner was K-Bobs.. filled with vegetables, potatoes, steak & chicken. Everyone favorite Pecan Pie was desert! Hmm YES!

The evening was a fabulous new game called Vicious Villains. The campers were split into mari heroes and meta heroes, while the counselors were split into groups of evil disney villains such as scar and the hyenas, cruella de ville and her servants, shan-yu and his army, and ursula and the mean octopi. The point of the game was for the mari and meta heroes to capture as many counselor villains as fast as they can until they reach 250 points. Scar and the hyenas were dressed in yellow and worth 7 points, cruella de vil and her servants were dressed in white and worth 6 points, shan-yu and his army were dressed in black and worth 5 points, and ursula and the mean octopi were dressed in purple and worth 4 points. In order to capture a villain, the mari and meta heroes had to make a ring around them with the number of people corresponding to the number of points each villain was worth. However, all mari and meta heroes wore socks hanging from their sides which the counselor villains tried to steal throughout the game. If a counselor villain grabbed a mari or meta’s sock, they were not out yet they did not receive a bonus point at the end of the game. Once the mari heroes or meta heroes obtained 250 points from capturing the counselor villains, a song played from the loud speaker signaling that that team was now allowed to capture the evilest villain of them all, Jafar. I Just Can’t Wait To Be King was the song for the mari heroes and Under The Sea was the song for the meta heroes. To capture Jafar, the entire mari or meta team had to make a ring around him. Jafar was worth 10 points and as soon as he was captured the game was over. However, every sock that the counselor villains did not steal counted towards an extra bonus point for their team. The girls had so much fun and Vicious Villains looks like it’s a game that will be around Marimeta for a while!

Hold on just a minute, while a normal camp may be done… the Marimeta girls continued on into the evening… as the new and old 5 year campers and counselors ventured out for their annual Alexanders Pizza Party! The rest of the camp joined CJ, AJ and Jocelyn in the Rec Hall for the first Pajama Party dance of the summer! If it was your first year or your 10th year, Marimeta was rocking thru the evening!

I’m tired now and cannot wait for another Lovely Day at Marimeta!

Love to all, Sandy
