Weekend Recap: Clear Skies, Team Spirit & Friendship July 27, 2015 And now for your Weekend Recap… Good morning! We hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Sunday marked the official one-week point for Second Session. Gorgeous weather has made the past seven days fly! This past week has been jam-packed with cabin bonding, regular activities, and favorited evening programs. Your daughters’ boundless energy and excitement has made our Second Session kick-off one of a kind! On Friday, we maximized our amazing weather with a full day of regular activities. The constant sun has allowed your daughters to be fully engaged in their camp favorites. Our waterfront has been beyond successful, with a new camper getting up on skis each day. We love that! After dinner, we announced the first Capture the Flag of Second Session. A team competition favorite, the mess hall went wild with spirit and pride! Both the Reds and Whites headed to their respective team meetings to find out their positions. From “runners” to “flag guards”, every one of your daughters was assigned a field position that served as critical to their team’s strategy and, ultimately, team’s success. With great intensity and agility, the teams competed tirelessly to bring their flag back to their side. It was a game full of stunning teamwork and determination. We can’t wait for more rounds to come! As the Lake Meta sun began to set, the girls went back to their cabins to get ready for our Friday night campfire. This past week, our four-year campers have been preparing small “speeches” to present before the entire camp. The girls chose to write about the importance of camp friends: a theme so special and meaningful to camp. Between rounds of campfire songs, the girls expressed their thoughtful and heartfelt words. Here is one of our favorite speeches written by Eliza B: “To the people that this speech is really about…my amazing camp friends. Whether I’ve known you since Cabin One or we met last year, I’m so lucky to have girls that I can go to all year round. There is such a difference between home friends and camp friends; camp friends are there for you no matter what. I know my camp friends will all be life long friends and that our memories at camp will last forever. At Marimeta, everyone is friends, so when we get on the bus at the end of the four weeks, I walk away with new friendships every summer.” Lillie closed out the campfire by sharing some words about the importance of cherishing your camp friends. Lillie emphasized the unconditional love and laughter camp friends provide, both at camp and throughout life. It was an amazing night! On Saturday, we continued with regular “G” Day activities. At General, the Senior Cabin girls got on the loud speaker and started chanting, “G to the I to the double D – “Y”, giddy up shoe!” This creative cheer announced an all-camp social with Horseshoe! The girls were so excited! With Monster Entertainment DJing the event, we had an amazing night at Horseshoe. On Sunday, the entire camp enjoyed the beautiful 80-degree weather with cabin activities along the waterfront. The day closed with a cookout and ice cream followed by our regular Sunday night movie. This week’s feature was an Olsen twin throwback, “Our Lips Are Sealed.” It turned out to be a great way to close out the week! The forecast looks nothing less than clear skies and sun for the rest of the week. Looking forward to an amazing week ahead! Love, The Lodge P.S. Be sure to check out this week’s, “Meta Moments.” We know you’ll love it!
